Hong Kong rated Asia’s top financial hub for 4th straight year: report

Hong Kong has maintained its position as Asia's premier financial hub for the fourth consecutive year, according to the Global Financial Centres Index (GFCI). The city scored 756, just ahead of London with 757 and Singapore with 755, while New York topped the index at 761. All four top cities saw their scores drop due to geopolitical tensions, particularly the Middle East conflict.

Hong Kong, however, excelled across the five main categories of the index, particularly in financial sector development and fintech. The city also benefits from deepening connections with mainland China through schemes like the Stock, Bond and Wealth Management Connect. With a focus on economic diversification and competitiveness, Hong Kong's financial development blueprint aligns with China's 15th five-year plan.

Meanwhile, other Asian financial hubs showed strong performance, with Shanghai moving up to fifth place and Shenzhen rising to eighth. The Asia-Pacific region saw an overall improvement in its financial rating.
