Former SABC Sport presenter Owen Ndlovu found dead after hijacking and kidnapping

Former SABC sports presenter Owen Ndlovu, 54, was discovered dead on Wednesday, days after being kidnapped and hijacked while retrieving his wife from church in Katlehong, Gauteng’s East Rand. According to police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuluwi, the kidnapping occurred around 8pm on Tuesday, 15 September 2026. Ndlovu's wife approached his vehicle after church, but three men, one allegedly armed, pushed her aside and forcefully dragged Ndlovu into his Ford Raptor before fleeing.

The hijacked vehicle was later found abandoned in Walkerville, police said. Ndlovu's body was discovered by residents of Thokoza on Wednesday morning, with gunshot wounds. His bag was located nearby. The family identified his body through Portia Ndlovu, his wife. The family is awaiting further information from investigators regarding the circumstances surrounding Ndlovu's death.

They expressed gratitude to residents who aided in the search and requested privacy. Police continue to investigate and are seeking the public's assistance in identifying and apprehending the suspects.
