Foreign workers’ syndicates will be dismantled at source, says minister

The Home Ministry in Malaysia is committed to dismantling syndicates that manipulate the foreign worker system and forge documents, according to Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail. Speaking on Facebook, Saifuddin emphasized the government's determination to eliminate these fraudulent networks without any tolerance. Throughout his time in office, the ministry has shown that stringent administrative measures are necessary to protect national security.

On September 14, the Immigration Department carried out a series of raids in Kuala Lumpur's Jalan Chan Sow Lin commercial area under Operation Serkap. The operation targeted 11 premises and resulted in the detention of 30 foreign nationals, including 11 individuals suspected of being the masterminds behind the syndicates. The group consisted of 10 men and one woman, all from Bangladesh. Additionally, 19 foreign nationals were arrested for various immigration violations.

During the raids, authorities confiscated 18 laptops, 21 printers and scanners, three mobile phones, and 10 Bangladeshi international passports. They also seized printed documents purporting to be electronic Temporary Employment Visit Passes (e-PLKS) and fake police reports. The fake e-PLKS were being sold for RM150 each, while the counterfeit police reports were being sold for RM70 each.

Saifuddin stressed that the syndicates' activities not only compromised the integrity of the immigration administration system but also threatened public safety and facilitated unauthorized entry for foreigners. The Home Ministry remains resolute in its efforts to dismantle these fraudulent operations at their source.
