Five killed in Russian drone strike on bus in southern Ukraine

Russian aerial assaults in Ukraine claimed at least nine lives and injured 36 individuals over the course of a single day, according to local authorities. Among the casualties were five people who perished when a Russian drone targeted a passenger bus in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast on Sept. 16 morning. Local Governor Oleksandr Hanzha reported that the strike left five dead and at least seven injured.

Human Rights Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets emphasized that civilians are repeatedly targeted by Russia, with each attack affecting ordinary people who simply want to live their lives. Ukrainian air defenses managed to shoot down 63 drones, with strikes recorded at seven locations, and debris from downed drones was found at two sites. In Zaporizhzhia Oblast, one person was killed and seven others injured in Russian attacks on Zaporizhzhia and its surrounding district. Russian forces carried out 746 strikes against 52 settlements in the region that day, as reported by Ivan Fedorov, co-chair of the Regional Defense Council.

In Kherson Oblast, one person was killed and seven injured in Russian attacks. The strikes targeted critical infrastructure and residential areas, causing damage to three apartment buildings, agricultural machinery, and vehicles. In Donetsk Oblast, two individuals were killed in Sloviansk and one injured elsewhere. Governor Vadym Filashkin confirmed these figures.

In Kharkiv Oblast, Russian attacks resulted in the injury of 12 people. Governor Oleh Syniehubov reported that Russian forces utilized 12 guided aerial bombs, a Geran-2 drone, a Molniya drone, and over 100 unidentified drones in their attacks.
