Father seeks help after Lamphun teacher’s car injures son

A student in Lamphun was severely injured when a teacher's car hit him near the school on June 11. The boy's father has appealed to the media for assistance, stating that he has received no compensation from the teacher. The father presented documents and CCTV footage to reporters on September 16, explaining that his son was crossing a road inside the school when the collision occurred.

Trees obstructed the boy's view, so he failed to see the oncoming car in time. The crash left the student with a broken leg and in serious condition at Lamphun Hospital.

The police investigated the case, which was then passed through the legal system. However, prosecutors decided not to prosecute. The father claims that the teacher did not offer any further assistance after visiting him for about 10 minutes with a flower basket. The school subsequently paid the family 10,000 baht from its accident insurance.

Initially, the father sought 500,000 baht in compensation, but they agreed to reduce the amount to 100,000 baht after negotiations. Despite this, the father alleges that the teacher later told the family she would not pay and threatened legal action if compensation was pursued. His son's recovery has been slow, and he continues to face difficulties in daily activities and attending school.

The prosecutor's decision not to pursue the case has left the father uncertain about where else to seek help, leading him to turn to the media. The teacher involved is set to retire from government service at the end of September.
