Father, daughter hacked to death over property dispute in Belagavi

An elderly man and his daughter were brutally murdered at the Gram Panchayat office in Avaradi village, Belagavi district, by their relatives over a property dispute. Rudrappa Kundaragi, a 67-year-old ex-serviceman, and his 30-year-old daughter Shashikala, an engineer, were killed on the scene. Police suspect that Rudrappa's two brothers, Sangappa and Basappa, and Basappa's son Madiwalappa, carried out the attack using machetes and rods after Rudrappa returned from the Gram Panchayat office.

Shashikala, who tried to rescue her father, also met a gruesome end. The attack was witnessed by others, and the accused fled on motorcycles. A case has been registered, and investigators are reviewing video footage of the incident to identify the perpetrators. Superintendent of Police K. Ramarajan emphasized the importance of awareness about legal remedies and faster justice delivery to prevent such violent acts.
