Exco statement shouldn’t be seen as state govt stand, says rep

Pakatan Harapan representatives in Negeri Sembilan have criticized an executive council statement purporting to announce Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir's removal as ruler, asserting it should not be viewed as the state government's stance. DAP's Bahau assemblyman Teo Kok Seong, who previously served on the exco, explained that the state government's official position on matters is typically conveyed in a statement by the chief minister or the state secretary's office.

Consequently, the exco members' declaration solely represents their individual perspectives and should not be interpreted as the government's official stance.

Negeri Sembilan DAP chief J Arul Kumar called for the state government to clarify its official position on Tuanku Muhriz's role as the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan. He pointed out that the exco's statement declaring Tuanku Muhriz's removal contradicted the chief minister's assertion that he did not have unilateral power to remove the ruler.

Arul emphasized that contradictory statements like this could undermine public confidence in the state's administration and stability. He urged the chief minister and exco lineup to align the state government's official stand promptly and provide a clear explanation to the people.

Similarly, Negeri Sembilan DAP chief Arul Kumar urged the government to reveal the actual decision made following the exco meeting and clarify which statement constituted the official position. He stressed that matters involving the royal institution must be handled with utmost care, responsibility, and legality due to their implications for the state's sovereignty, history, and identity.
