EPL: Man Utd also defeated Man City with offside goal – Maresca hits back

Manchester City’s Enzo Maresca has stated that Manchester United secured a victory against them in a derby match three years ago due to an offside goal. The incident came to light after Pro Ref admitted that Erling Haaland’s goal against United last Sunday should not have been counted. Initially, the goal was ruled out for offside by the officials on the field, but the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) later allowed the goal, deeming that Haaland was not offside when he received the ball from United defender Patrick Dorgu.

However, Maresca pointed out that City’s Enzo Fernandez was in an offside position when he tried to play the ball before Haaland received it. Upon learning about the apology extended to United by Pro Ref, Maresca expressed disappointment as they were yet to receive an apology for a goal Bruno Fernandes scored against City three years prior.

Maresca said, "Three years ago we lost the Derby at Old Trafford with a goal that had to be disallowed. No one apologized. We are still waiting for the apology." Football often plays out where goals can come to your team’s aid or against them, Maresca added.
