Bengal completes 100% Census fieldwork ahead of deadline: Suvendu Adhikari

Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced on Wednesday that West Bengal has successfully completed 100% fieldwork for the first phase of the 16th Census of India, surpassing the September 14 deadline. Adhikari praised the diligent work of the state's administrative machinery, enumerators, and local officials, crediting their dedication and meticulous planning for the achievement.

Over 3.68 crore census houses were successfully enumerated, exceeding the target of 3.69 crore by nearly 99.7%. Adhikari highlighted the significant role of grassroots workers, calling them "our real heroes on the ground" and thanking citizens for their warm hospitality and cooperation throughout the process.
