ATM tubuh Angkatan Siber menjelang 2030

Malaysia's military (ATM) plans to establish a Siberian Division by 2030 to counter modern security threats, according to Panglima ATM Malek Razak Sulaiman. The move comes as the digital and electromagnetic landscapes are increasingly becoming contested and fought territories on the global stage. A specialized unit, known as the Siberian Task Force, has been created to oversee the design, coordination, supply, and development of the organization's capabilities in preparation for its official establishment.

This initiative was reinforced during a meeting with the Ministry of Defence's 93rd Independence Day celebration on September 19th at the Royal Malaysian Navy Land Force Training Centre (TLDM) Lumut, Perak. The Siberian Task Force will design and determine the way forward for the Siberian Division to fully operate in line with the ministry's guidelines by 2030.

The ministry is also continuously developing expertise in Siberian and electromagnetic activities (Cema). Currently, 60 officers and 17 other ranks have completed Cema-related courses by July, and they are already applying their skills practically in operations like the Lightning Duo 2/26 exercise. The Malaysian government is committed to this undertaking, recognizing that modern warfare and cognitive threats are no longer limited to traditional physical combat. Instead, they are shifting towards controlling digital spaces and public perception.
