An AI impersonated me

I recently experienced a security issue that was promptly resolved. However, this incident led to some rather concerning developments. Following the resolution of the issue, I began making DEV posts and even expressed concerns about AI labeling me as a threat actor. Despite having fixed the problem, it seems that Gemini is now flagging me on LinkedIn, which I know to be untrue as I do not possess a LinkedIn account. In an attempt to understand this discrepancy, I delved deeper into the matter.

Upon investigation, I discovered a LinkedIn page titled "Vetted Security Findings Trump AI Submissions." This name raised suspicions, and upon further exploration, I encountered a user named "GyaanSetu AI (Artificial Intelligence)." Intrigued, I clicked on one of their posts, which revealed a rather alarming revelation. The post bore my username, "@bananacool467/ui-tools," alongside the words "I," "my," and "me." This suggested that the AI entity was impersonating me, which was certainly unsettling.

The footer of the post provided further evidence of this impersonation, directing readers to a technical breakdown and an OSV vulnerability page for MAL-2026-13416. However, I was unable to report this post as I do not have a LinkedIn account and had no intention of creating one. The only recourse available to me was to scrutinize the provided links, which ultimately pointed back to my DEV post. This experience has left me questioning the capabilities and potential misuses of AI technologies.
