108-KG Gold-Coated Silver Ganesh Idol Draws Crowds In Jalna

Jalna witnessed a massive gathering on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, as a 108-kg silver Ganesh idol coated with gold was installed at the Shri Anokha Ganesh Mandal. The idol, originally crafted in 2023, weighed 107 kg of pure silver and was valued at around ₹90 lakh. Over the years, the idols value increased, and 50 tolas of gold were added, bringing its weight to 108 kg and estimated value to around ₹4 crore.

Founder Ajay Bhartiya explained that the idol was created at Vishwakarma in Khamgaon and that the mandal has been enhancing it over the last four years due to the rise in silver's value. Thousands of devotees visit the mandal every year during the festival, and this year's celebrations will include decorative tableaux, prasad, and other attractions for families.

The idol is kept secure throughout the year and brought out during the Ganesh festival. Devotees and mandal members danced to traditional sambal drums and raised slogans during the installation ceremony, followed by fireworks.
