Yayi threatens legal action over claims he is Ekiti indigene

Senator Solomon Adeola, also known as Yayi, the All Progressives Congress candidate for governor in Ogun State, has threatened legal action against two individuals who claimed he is from Ekiti State. Adeola, a senator representing Ogun West, gave suspended APC member Hon Abayomi Hunye and PDP member Ambassador Folake Marcus-Bello 24 hours to provide evidence to support their claims or face lawsuits.

The two made the assertions during separate interviews on Channels Television. Adeola described the claims as false and libellous, demanding proof of his state of origin within 24 hours. He expressed disbelief at being falsely accused of being from Ekiti without any substantiation. The senator's threat comes as there is renewed controversy over his ancestral origins ahead of the 2027 Ogun State governorship election.

Traditional councils in Kemta, Ogun State, have affirmed Adeola's ties to the community, with the Oluwo of Kemta and Baaye of Egbaland, Chief Abayomi Rotimi, affirming this at a press conference. Rotimi dismissed claims that the Ile Ogboni of Kemta had been shut down due to Adeola's relationship with the community, describing the reports as false and politically motivated.
