Woman allegedly stabbed 13 times by husband after jealous row, suspect later surrenders

KULIM, September 15 — A 39-year-old woman named S. Sila succumbed to injuries after allegedly being stabbed 13 times by her husband during a jealous argument at their home in Taman Tiram, Kulim, last night, according to Kulim police chief Supt Syamsul Sinring. The victim's 43-year-old husband, an unemployed individual, reported the incident to the Lunas Police Station at 8:40 pm, stating he had stabbed his wife with a folding knife at their residence.

Supt Syamsul revealed that the altercation took place in the master bedroom of the couple's single-storey terrace house, which also housed their three-year-old child. Traces of blood were found on multiple items including the bedsheet, pillow, headboard, and on other bed-related objects. A total of 11 samples were collected as evidence.

The suspect later admitted to stabbing his wife 13 times using the folding knife. Upon returning home, the suspect reportedly bathed, collected his child from a babysitter, and handed the child to his sister at the Juru Rest and Service area in Penang. He then informed his sister about the stabbing before surrendering himself to the Lunas Police Station.

The suspect was arrested at 9 pm, and a 20-centimeter folding knife was seized as evidence. The victim's body was transported to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar for a post-mortem examination. The case is currently being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
