Widespread condemnation as Houthis launch missile and drone attacks on Saudi cities

The Houthi militant group launched a barrage of missile and drone attacks on three Saudi cities, Khamis Mushait, Abha, and Taif, on Monday. The assault resulted in injuries to 13 civilians and damage to multiple homes and vehicles. The Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen reported the casualties and damage, emphasizing that the Houthi attacks are deliberate and unlawful, targeting civilians and civilian sites.

Coalition spokesperson Brigadier General Turki Al-Malki affirmed that the coalition will respond with responsibility and resolve, in line with the UN Charter's principle of self-defense and international humanitarian law. The Saudi Cabinet echoed this stance during a session chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, firmly condemning the attacks and reaffirming the Kingdom's inviolable security and territorial integrity.

The Gulf Cooperation Council's Secretary-General also condemned the attacks, describing them as a dangerous criminal escalation and a direct threat to Saudi Arabia's security. Bahrain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed strong condemnation, calling the attacks a violation of international law and a threat to regional stability.

Egypt similarly denounced the attacks, emphasizing that the national security of both countries is intertwined. The EU's Middle East and North Africa regional communication office also condemned the Houthi attack, reaffirming its solidarity with Gulf partners and commitment to maintaining stability in the Middle East.
