During an episode of the "Tom Tolbert Show," Kerr joked that he didn't think he'd face any consequences for suggesting that James never really seemed interested in joining Golden State.

The Warriors coach also shared that fans in the Bay Area have expressed relief that James ultimately signed with the Philadelphia 76ers, stating that many people around the Bay feel that the rival should not have been on the team. Kerr compared the idea of James playing with Golden State to other legendary rivalries, such as Magic and Bird, acknowledging as a coach that it would have been intriguing to have coached his former Olympic teammate.
