Vote for your favorite northwest Louisiana high school athlete of the week from a list of 12 standout nominees.
Voting has commenced for The Shreveport Times High School Athlete of the Week, Week 1, non-football edition. The event is sponsored by Raising Cane’s, the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission, and Cosse and Silmon Orthodontics. The contest is open to student-athletes from 12 northwest Louisiana schools, excluding football. Voters can participate via shreveporttimes.com under “Sports” to cast their vote for their favorite athlete.
The voting period extends until Sunday evening, after which the winner will be announced on Monday. Weekly winners will be rewarded with a backpack, a boxed lunch combo, additional swag from Raising Cane’s and Cosse and Silmon, and a feature story highlighting their achievements, courtesy of The Shreveport Times. The Week 1 ballot comprises seven female athletes from diverse sports: Emma Byrd (volleyball, Airline), Ava Crowe (volleyball, Ruston), Taylor Alleman (volleyball, Byrd), Khloe Murray (volleyball, Captain Shreve), Sydney Shea Walker (volleyball, Loyola), Landry Clark (volleyball, Northwood), and Sam Ivins (cross country, Benton).
Similarly, male athletes from cross country, swimming, and cheerleading are also eligible. Coaches and school administrators can submit their nominees to jwatson@shreveporttimes.com. The High School Athlete of the Week program is inclusive of all Louisiana high school sports, except football, in the fall season, which encompasses volleyball, cross country, swimming, and cheerleading.
