Ulysses gets Siri AI support, customizable toolbars, project templates, more

Ulysses, the popular plain writing app, has received several updates with the release of macOS 27 Golden Gate and iOS 27. These updates include integration with Siri AI support, customizable toolbars, new project templates, and other enhancements. Ulysses was first launched in December 2016 and has been a staple app for many, including the reporter, who uses it daily for various writing tasks.

The update incorporates Siri AI support, except for users in the EU, which allows for onscreen awareness and a dedicated macOS toolbar button. This button provides access to the new Siri AI interface for tasks such as writing, rewriting, proofreading, and other text-related functions. Additionally, users can now fully customize the app's toolbar, including navigation buttons, blocks, spaces, suggestions, and more.

Furthermore, the update introduces new group icons with pictograms, which have been requested by users. Alongside these visual enhancements to better match the look of iOS 27 and macOS 27, the update includes the addition of project templates. When creating a new project, users can now select a template, which begins with a couple of dummy groups and sheets.
