Ukraine's power generator imports drop 39% as electric motor imports surge

In the first eight months of 2026, imports of electric generators and rotary converters into Ukraine dropped by 39.2% compared to the same period in 2025, reaching a total of $618.2 million, according to State Customs Service data. August saw a particularly steep decline, with imports falling 2.6 times compared to August 2025, totaling $48.9 million. The top suppliers of these products during this period were China, contributing 24.4% or $150.9 million, followed by the Czech Republic at 21% and Turkey at 13.6%.

Conversely, imports of electric motors and generators surged eightfold in the same period, reaching $948.4 million. August alone saw a significant increase, with imports worth $162.3 million, 2.6 times higher than in August 2025. China remained the primary supplier of these motors and generators, accounting for 93.7% of the imports during these eight months, up from 86.9% the previous year.

Ukraine also exported $9.2 million worth of motors and generators to Poland during this period, up from $2.7 million in the same period last year.

Additionally, imports of electric accumulators and separators saw a remarkable 3.3-fold increase, totaling $2.65 billion during the period. China was again the leading supplier, providing 66.2% of the imports, followed by smaller volumes from the Czech Republic and Poland. Ukraine exported $27.3 million worth of accumulators in the eight months of 2026, primarily to Poland, France, and Germany, compared to $32.9 million in the same period last year, mainly exported to the same countries.
