In the early hours of the night, Ukraine launched a drone attack on an industrial facility in Russia. President Donald Trump had announced on Monday that Russia and Ukraine would forgo attacks on each other's energy facilities. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky tweeted that a de-escalation step targeting critical infrastructure could be a "first step towards peace." Moscow initially offered no reaction. Earlier, Ukraine also attacked ammunition storage facilities of the internet retailer Ozon in the Russian city of Taganrog with rockets.

The governor of Rostov region, Yuri Slyussar, reported no casualties. Additionally, warehouses of agricultural facilities, residential buildings, and an educational institution were damaged. In recent months, Ukraine has waged heavy attacks against Russia's oil industry, causing temporary disruptions in the Russian fuel market. In response, Moscow retaliated with targeted attacks on Ukrainian facilities, even targeting individual gas stations.

Kiew's mayor, Vitali Klitschko, reported Russian drone attacks on the city in the early hours via Telegram, claiming a gas station was hit. Another district reported a person injured. Ukraine has been defending itself with Western support for over four and a half years following Russia's large-scale invasion. As part of their defense efforts, Ukraine frequently targets targets within Russian territory.
