Petra berkata kuota baharu bagi biogas, biojisim dan hidrokuasa kecil itu turut melibatkan pembelian peralatan tempatan bernilai RM510 juta.
The Malaysian government has announced a new 250MW renewable energy feed-in tariff (FiT) program, set to launch in 2027, with the potential to attract RM3 billion in investments and create over 5,000 jobs. The program will be administered by the Ministry of Energy, Transformation and Water Resources (Petra) and will focus on 30MW of biogas, 120MW of bio-methane, and 100MW of small hydropower plants across Peninsular Malaysia and Labuan.
Interested parties can submit bids online through the Sustainable Energy Development Authority of Malaysia (Seda) portal from February 3 to March 24, 2027. The new FiT scheme aims to generate RM3 billion in investments, including RM510 million worth of locally manufactured engines and turbines, and is expected to create more than 5,000 direct and indirect jobs.
Petra stated that this initiative is part of the government's efforts to increase the capacity of renewable mixed energy (TBB) to 70% by 2050. Projects approved under the new program are expected to start generating and supplying green electricity from 2030 onwards. Since the FiT was introduced in 2011, a total of 1,660.50 MW of capacity for all TBB sources has been approved, involving 9,658 projects nationwide.
Further information on applications, including bid training sessions and the e-bidding submission deadline, can be obtained from the Seda Malaysia portal at https://www.seda.gov.my/reportal/fit.
