Spanish PM denies being blackmailed by Morocco

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has firmly stated that he is not being blackmailed by Morocco over the recent migration crisis in Ceuta, a Spanish territory located in North Africa. The allegations, which claim that Rabat orchestrated the influx of over 70,000 migrants into the enclave at the end of July, have been dismissed by Sanchez as "Netflix-worthy" and without solid proof.

Opposition parties and the public have not been convinced by these claims, despite them being picked up by the right-wing Popular Party and its leader Alberto Nuñez Feijoo. Sanchez maintains that any response to Morocco's alleged actions will be firmly based on facts and not on false news. He emphasized that relations between countries must be built on respect and facts, not on wild speculation or contempt.

While some migrants returned to Morocco shortly after their arrival, several thousand have remained in Ceuta, leading to violent episodes and daily demonstrations. The government has been tasked with identifying these individuals to determine their eligibility for asylum, while unaccompanied children cannot be summarily deported.
