Shooter Esha Singh’s scintillating 2026 form puts her in line for Asiad success

Esha Singh, the reigning world number one in women's 25m pistol and world number two in women's 10m air pistol, heads into the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya as a formidable favorite. At the tender age of 21, she has already claimed two individual silver medals and a team gold at the Asian Games held in Hangzhou in 2022. Her consistently impressive performance over the past 18 months includes a bronze medal at the 2022 25m World Championship, two World Cup titles, and the all-time record score of 43 in the 25m pistol.

In addition to her 25m dominance, Singh also clinched a silver medal in the 10m event at the World Cup held in Munich this year.

During the last Asian Games, Singh showcased her versatility by winning silver medals in both the individual events and securing gold and silver in the team competition. As the pressure mounts for the upcoming Games, Singh acknowledges the heightened expectations but remains focused on her training and the technique she has honed.

Her Indian shooting coach and Technical Director, Ronak Pandit, emphasizes the importance of maintaining the right balance in training, ensuring that Esha dedicates equal time to each event to prevent favoring one over the other. Singh's coach also notes that her aggressive triggering and technical prowess in the 10m event are key strengths, and the team has been working on improving her tactical approach in both competitions.
