Sentuo Airport Garden City will position Accra to host major global conferences – Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has revealed that the Sentuo Airport Garden City Project will significantly boost Accra's capacity to accommodate major international conferences and events. He made these remarks during the ceremonial sod-cutting for the project on Tuesday. Accra has previously missed out on hosting such events due to a lack of sufficient hotel and conference facilities, Mahama stated.

By providing a 600-room hotel and a conference facility capable of accommodating around 2,500 people, the Sentuo project will fill this gap, he said. Mahama noted that Accra is increasingly attracting business travelers, tourists, and participants in international events, making it necessary to expand accommodation and conference facilities.

The project, which includes residential, healthcare, commercial, and leisure facilities, will transform the airport enclave into a more attractive commercial and business destination. Beyond directly attracting visitors to the capital, Mahama urged stakeholders to develop strategies to encourage tourists and business travelers to explore other parts of the country, thereby spreading the economic benefits of tourism.

He expressed optimism that the development would strengthen Accra's competitiveness and enhance Ghana's prospects of securing major international conferences and business events.
