Sarawak perlukan Abang Jo hingga 2030, kata veteran PBB

Former PBB leader Peter Minos has urged Sarawak Chief Minister Abang Johari Openg not to step down from his position, citing that the year 2030 might be the last time he holds office. Minos, who represents the GPS, believes that the nation needs a capable and outstanding chief minister for another term, which would mean five years from now.

He is confident that Abang Johari's final term in office should end by 2030, deeming it an opportune time. Many Sarawakians have questioned who will take over from Abang Johari, but Minos asserts that no one is currently qualified to fill the role or surpass his caliber within the PBB. During a recent statement, Abang Johari mentioned that the PBB is preparing a new generation of leaders to ensure a smooth transition, while noting that leadership changes are inevitable.

The chief minister also hinted that he might not continue as Sarawak's premier after the upcoming PRN, stating, "This might be my last term, and you cannot fight nature, even if your heart is still young." The Sarawak Legislative Assembly term ends in February, but if dissolved earlier, fresh elections must be held within 60 days.

Abang Johari has been Sarawak's chief minister since January 2017, following the death of Adenan Satem from a heart attack while still in office.
