Sagar Spurious Liquor Tragedy: ₹30,000 Bounty Suspect Shot In Leg During Police Encounter, Arrests Rise To 19

Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh - A suspect in the Sagar spurious liquor case, Shivanjay Rajput, was arrested after a brief police encounter near Kathua Nala forest on Sunday morning. The 21-year-old allegedly fired three shots at the police team during a search operation. In retaliation, the police fired two rounds, hitting Rajput in the leg.

Superintendent of Police Anurag Sujania confirmed Rajput's arrest and stable condition in the hospital. The incident marks the 19th arrest in the case, with 30 people now registered in police custody. Rajput, a resident of Chhapri village, had been on the run since the spurious liquor incident and was allegedly involved in the production of the liquor.

Upon his apprehension, police recovered a homemade .315-bore pistol, three live cartridges, three empty cartridges, a mobile phone, and a motorcycle. Acting on information, teams from Bandri and Bahrol police stations cordoned off the area and initiated the chase. The encounter followed another arrest two days prior, where Ravi Lakhera from Uttar Pradesh was captured after a brief exchange of gunfire.
