Russia Has Damaged More Than 500 Ukrainian Locomotives Since Full-Scale Invasion — Sybiha

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha revealed that Russia has inflicted damage to over 500 Ukrainian locomotives since the onset of the full-scale invasion. According to UATV English, Sybiha stated, "Russia continues systematic attacks aimed at disrupting logistics across Ukraine. Last night, a Russian strike on railway infrastructure near the Polish border in the Volyn region directly damaged another locomotive." Over the course of the conflict, more than half of these locomotives were targeted this year alone.

Sybiha emphasized the critical role of Ukraine's railways, noting that they are essential for the swift evacuation of civilians from battle zones, transporting vital supplies, and facilitating the distribution of critical goods such as grain. "Amid daily attacks on our railway system, it has become a key lifeline for the economic and social stability of Ukrainian people and cities," Sybiha remarked.

He appealed to Ukraine's international allies to facilitate the procurement of compatible replacement locomotives, as well as to offer financial assistance to expedite the acquisition of new locomotives. "Supporting the resilience of Ukraine's railway system will help prevent a humanitarian crisis and strengthen our resilience under the difficult conditions of the full-scale war," Sybiha concluded.
