Remi Tinubu awards Qur’anic competition winner N20m

The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, applauded Maryam Ibrahim Dan’Azumi for securing the top prize in the women's category at the 46th King Abdulaziz International Qur'anic Competition held in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. During a ceremony in Abuja, Tinubu presented Dan’Azumi with a cash award of N20 million, accompanied by her father, Ibrahim Dan’Azumi, the Governor of Gombe State, Inuwa Yahaya, and other officials from the Gombe state government.

Tinubu lauded Maryam's achievement, describing it as a source of pride for Nigeria and young girls worldwide. She called Dan’Azumi an inspiration to the girl child and praised her parents for nurturing her talent and supporting her education. The First Lady highlighted the national pride garnered through Maryam's mastery of the Holy Qur'an.

She also commended Dan’Azumi and her elder sister, Hajara, who won a similar competition in Jordan in 2024, as role models for young Nigerians. Tinubu emphasized the importance of hard work, discipline, and dedication in achieving success. She urged Maryam to embrace mentorship as she continued her education. The First Lady reiterated education's priority of President Bola Tinubu's administration and its focus on inclusive education and providing opportunities for young Nigerians to develop their talents.

The Governor of Gombe State, Inuwa Yahaya, expressed pride in the state's education system and noted that Maryam had progressed through various Qur'anic competitions before the international contest. Dan’Azumi thanked the First Lady for the honor, stating that participating in the Saudi Arabian competition provided her with global exposure.

She expressed hope that her achievement would inspire other young Nigerians to excel and develop themselves both mentally and physically.
