Qatar University and Qatar Lawyers Association organize a seminar to qualify legal competencies for the labor market

Doha: Qatar University's College of Law Dean, Dr. Mohammed Al-Kaabi, highlighted the rapid global developments and the necessity of updating legal education methods and forming alliances with judicial bodies for effective and proficient justice service.

During the seminar "From Lecture Halls to Courtrooms: Practical Experiences in Legal Practice," Al-Kaabi emphasized that the college's success is determined by its capacity to produce graduates with a blend of robust academic knowledge and practical abilities, along with a dedication to professionalism.

The seminar, organized jointly by the College of Law and Qatar Bar Association, sought to train a new cohort of legal professionals equipped to handle the demands of the job market. Mubarak bin Abdullah Al-Sulaiti, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Qatar Lawyers Association, underscored the association's commitment to supporting and honing homegrown legal expertise.

Seminar attendees explored the obstacles encountered by recent lawyers as they embark on their careers and strategies to surmount these challenges. Key skills such as drafting, legal research, advocacy and persuasion, professional ethics, client confidentiality, client management, time management, and stress handling in legal environments were also discussed.

The event aimed to equip aspiring lawyers with the necessary competencies to excel in the workforce, bridging the gap between academic learning and practical legal application.
