Papaya Seeds Found Mixed With Black Pepper At Sagar Gaire As FDA Inspects Major Restaurants In Bhopal

Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh: The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) conducted inspections at various restaurants on Monday and discovered a number of issues. Hotel Ranjit Lake View was one of the establishments flagged for deficiencies. The FDA has issued guidelines for improvement and issued a notice to the hotel over the problems identified.

Samples were taken from Babu Ki Kutiya and Sagar Gaire Restaurant. At Hotel Ranjit Lake View, uncovered dustbins and inadequate drainage were noted, highlighting the requirement for proper upkeep. The kitchen of Babu Ki Kutiya was found to be blackened due to poor maintenance. At Sagar Gaire Restaurant, papaya seeds were found mixed with black pepper, a violation of safety standards.

Samples of black pepper and the white powder pack termed Fari/Farari were also collected. The kitchen of the restaurant was observed to be open towards the street, a potential hazard. The cold storage lacked proper organization and food items were kept uncovered, increasing the risk of contamination. Records of medical check-ups, fitness of staff, and water potability were not available at any of the inspected establishments.

Furthermore, the FDA noted that food safety training certifications were absent, and the display of the license for the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India was not prominently placed.
