Palestinian citizens of Israel mobilise against settler outpost in Galilee

Palestinian citizens of Israel are rallying against a settler outpost constructed in Majd al-Krum, a predominantly Palestinian town in northern Israel's Galilee region. Settlers from the Tekoa settlement in the West Bank established tents on state land in Majd al-Krum on Friday, sparking daily protests from locals. The outpost was established as part of Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich's election campaign to expand Jewish residency in the Negev and Galilee areas.

Izz al-Din Badran, a local activist, warned that the outpost threatens to encroach on Palestinian-owned land and prevent residents from accessing it. The local council and a popular committee have called for daily demonstrations until the settlers are removed, fearing the outpost could expand onto privately-owned Palestinian land or block residents' access.

Smotrich's plan has been criticized as a broader strategy to erase the Green Line and establish exclusive Jewish control over historic Palestine.
