NSCDC arrests three suspects for vandalism, theft of public facility in Anambra

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, in Anambra State, has apprehended three individuals for damaging public property and stealing government structures. The suspects were caught on Monday evening by NSCDC operatives, working with Agunaechemba Security Outfit, near Onitsha Local Government Area. Head of Media and Tactical Operations at the NSCDC, SC Edwin Okadigbo, informed journalists on Tuesday about the operation.

The suspects include Oseloka Anyaorah, who claimed to be the Chairman of the Ogbo Family, and John Nwobodo and Ifeanyi Nwancho, who said they were workers of Anyaorah at the scene. They were found with a government signpost, zinc sheets, nails, and other construction materials. Preliminary investigations suggest that the trio conspired to damage and remove parts of government infrastructure at Onitsha South LGA.

The NSCDC State Commandant, Olatunde Maku, condemned the act, calling it economic sabotage against the government and people of Anambra State. He emphasized the Corps' commitment to protecting national assets and infrastructure, and directed that the suspects be charged to court after investigations. Residents and traditional rulers are urged to provide timely information to security agencies to prevent further vandalism of government facilities.
