NSCDC arrests three suspects for vandalism, theft of public facility in Anambra

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Anambra State has apprehended three individuals for damaging public properties and stealing government structures. The suspects were arrested on Monday evening while vandalizing infrastructure on government land in Onitsha Local Government Area. The NSCDC's Head of Media and Tactical Operations, SC Edwin Okadigbo, announced the arrests on Tuesday during an update on the command's recent operational successes.

The three suspects - Oseloka Anyaorah, John Nwobodo, and Ifeanyi Nwancho - all claimed to have connections to the site where the vandalism occurred. They were taken into custody along with stolen items such as a signpost, zinc sheets, nails, and other building materials. Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects planned to damage and remove portions of public infrastructure belonging to Onitsha South LGA.

NSCDC State Commandant, Olatunde Maku, condemned the act and described it as economic sabotage against the government and people of Anambra State. Maku emphasized the Corps' dedication to safeguarding critical national assets and infrastructure, and directed that the suspects be charged to court following the completion of investigations.

He also urged traditional rulers, town union leaders, and Anambra residents to provide vital information to security agencies to prevent further instances of vandalism.
