New Trustees announced as Cancer Research UK strengthens research and governance leadership

Cancer Research UK has welcomed three new Trustees to strengthen its research and governance leadership. Lord Simon Stevens, Chair of the Council of Trustees, expressed delight at the appointments of Sarah Whitney, Professor Iain McNeish, and Hans Bishop.

Iain McNeish, a highly respected cancer researcher and clinical leader, will join the charity in October as a Trustee. He will serve on the Research and Finance Committees, bringing his expertise in developing better therapies for ovarian cancer and supporting the next generation of cancer researchers.

Sarah Whitney, a Chartered Accountant and experienced non-executive director, will become Chair of the Audit & Risk Committee and join the Nomination and Governance Committee. Whitney's extensive experience in governance, financial stewardship, and risk management will help the charity navigate challenges and deliver strong governance.

Hans Bishop, a biotech entrepreneur with over 30 years of experience in cancer treatment, will also be appointed as a Trustee in October. Bishop will join the Research Committee, leveraging his knowledge and expertise in driving transformative advancements in cancer treatment.

Professor René Medema has been appointed as Chair of the Research Committee later this year. His scientific leadership and international perspective will contribute to Cancer Research UK's continued progress in the fight against cancer.
