N130m land fraud allegation politically motivated – Ex-Lagos deputy gov

Former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Alhaja Sinatu Ojikutu, has called the N130m land fraud allegation against her politically motivated, stating that it was the result of a land agent's error, not a deliberate attempt to defraud anyone. Ojikutu explained that her late husband's land was mistakenly identified as vacant by the agent, while her son's land was already developed on an adjoining plot.

She further mentioned that her son was unjustly dragged into the controversy without his knowledge. The controversy emerged during a time when an election was approaching, and Ojikutu was actively involved in campaigning, leading to allegations being used to tarnish her reputation. She denied claims that she fled Nigeria and sought extradition from the United States Embassy, stating that she had informed the police of her travel plans and had since gone to court to reclaim her late husband's property.

Ojikutu emphasized that she has never taken illicit funds from any public institution where she has worked and attributed the controversy to her opposition to corrupt practices.
