Maharashtra: MSRTC Extends Old Concession Ticket System For Senior Citizens, Women Until September 30 Amid NCMC Server Issues

Mumbai, September 15, 2026: Technical problems with the NCMC card system at the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) have forced the corporation to resume using the older concession ticket system for senior citizens and women until September 30, 2026. This temporary measure was put in place after the corporation began enforcing the mandatory use of NCMC cards for concession travel on September 1.

NCMC Cards Strain System According to an MSRTC circular, the surge in usage of the NCMC card system has caused difficulty in issuing concession tickets, leading to technical issues at the card systems' servers. All MSRTC depots have been instructed to revert to the older process of issuing concession tickets for eligible passengers until September 30.

Active Cards Required For existing passengers with an NCMC card, the temporary relaxation does not apply. These passengers must still use their active cards to avail the concession, with the caveat that a malfunctioning card or card reader will still allow conductors to issue the concession ticket through the previous system. MSRTC Informs Staff MSRTC has instructed divisional controllers and depot managers across Maharashtra to notify conductors and driver-cum-conductors about the revised concession ticket procedure.

System Struggles While MSRTC works on resolving the NCMC system's technical problems, eligible passengers will continue to be served through the older ticketing process.
