Latest Deshaun Watson Development is Sure to Enrage Browns Fans

Deshaun Watson was given a chance on Sunday to prove the Cleveland Browns were right to invest $230 million in him. The result was a 34-10 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, with Watson throwing for 205 yards and a touchdown but also throwing an interception and fumbling the ball. While there were other poor performances throughout the league, the Cleveland offense struggled to move the ball during the game.

It's not solely on Watson, but for an already polarizing player on a final chance in Cleveland, it wasn't a convincing performance. Coach Todd Monken is expected to give Watson a long leash, according to Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports, meaning he will likely remain the starter through October, for better or worse. Fans are unlikely to appreciate this news, especially after Watson criticized the fanbase following a preseason loss to the Bills.

With Watson already disliked by many for his off-field behavior, subpar performances are not ideal. The Browns may soon have to turn to backup quarterback Shedeur Sanders, depending on Watson's performance.
