Kyiv Oblast gas stations to get Defense Forces system for faster drone response

Governor Tymur Tkachenko of Kyiv Oblast announced on September 15 that gas stations in the region will gain access to a cutting-edge digital airspace awareness system. This system, currently utilized by Ukraine’s Defense Forces, will provide real-time monitoring of enemy aerial targets. Designated employees at gas stations will be able to swiftly respond to threats, thereby enhancing the safety of both personnel and the public.

The Kyiv Oblast Defense Council, in collaboration with the Kyiv Oblast Military Administration, adopted this decision. Tkachenko emphasized that recent enemy attacks have highlighted the vulnerability of gas stations and fuel infrastructure facilities. He urged drivers to give utmost importance to threat alerts and adhere to the instructions given by gas station employees during air raid warnings.

Russian drones attacked Kyiv with jet-powered missiles on September 15, targeting gas stations in the Darnytskyi and Holosiivskyi districts, a warehouse in the Obolonskyi district, and nonresidential buildings in the Solomianskyi district. Since the beginning of the year, Russian strikes have damaged 16 gas stations in Kyiv, and the aggression has escalated, with Russia now intentionally targeting these facilities.
