Hang Lung Properties opens Amoy Footbridge in Kowloon Bay

HONG KONG SAR – September 14, 2026 – Hang Lung Properties Limited, a key player in the region's real estate sector, unveiled the Amoy Footbridge in Kowloon Bay today. The grand opening ceremony marked the completion of this landmark infrastructure project, which Hang Lung has fully funded, built and operated. The pedestrian bridge connects Amoy Plaza, the East Kowloon Cultural Centre and Kowloon Bay MTR Station, offering seamless, covered and barrier-free access at all times.

The official inauguration was performed by the Honourable C.Y. Leung, Vice-Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and Adriel Chan, Chair of Hang Lung Properties. Hang Lung's representatives, including Weber Lo, Chief Executive Officer; Leo Tsoi, Chief Executive Officer Designate; and Kenneth Chiu, Chief Financial Officer, were also present to mark the occasion.

The Amoy Footbridge's inauguration is a testament to Hang Lung's ongoing commitment to Kowloon Bay. The company's relationship with the district began in 1976 with the development of Telford Gardens, Hong Kong's first MTR-integrated residential project. Over the years, this partnership saw the creation of Amoy Gardens, Amoy Plaza and THE APERTURE, all contributing to Kowloon Bay's transformation into a thriving residential and commercial area.

In 2024, Hang Lung added THE APERTURE to the precinct, aligning with the Hong Kong SAR Government's Energizing Kowloon East initiative. The Amoy Footbridge is a prime example of public-private collaboration aimed at enhancing district-level connectivity. Its inauguration underscores Hang Lung's confidence in Kowloon East's long-term development as a hub for business, culture and community.

Adriel Chan, Chair of Hang Lung Properties, emphasized the company's long-standing relationship with Kowloon Bay. He highlighted past responses to challenges like the 2003 SARS outbreak and the subsequent launch of a consumption voucher initiative to revitalize the area. These actions underscore Hang Lung's belief in the synergy between business development and community well-being.

The Amoy Footbridge's design includes solar panels, reflecting Hang Lung's commitment to sustainable development. The bridge is expected to improve pedestrian flow to Amoy Plaza, potentially refreshing the tenant mix on the mall's second floor with lifestyle and dining brands that cater to evolving customer needs.
