Davis Webb’s debut as a playcaller was an epic failure

Denver Broncos Head Coach Sean Payton handed play-calling duties to offensive coordinator Davis Webb, sparking anticipation and hype. However, Webb's debut as a playcaller was an epic failure. The first play saw Bo Nix, the Broncos' quarterback, sacked and marked the beginning of a poor performance. Nix went on to throw an interception and recorded numerous turnovers.

The run game also failed to materialize, with the Broncos gaining just 61 yards rushing. Rookie receiver JK Dobbins, in particular, struggled with just 8 carries for 36 yards. The once-prominent receiver Jaylen Waddle was targeted only three times and had a single 2-yard reception. The offensive line's performance did not improve the situation, with the defensive coordinator, Steve Spagnuolo, out-coaching Webb throughout the night.

The play calls were another area of concern, with the Broncos opting to pass rather than run in crucial situations. The Chiefs capitalized on short-yardage situations, dominating the line of scrimmage and converting multiple first downs. Despite the poor performance, Webb and the Broncos have the opportunity to improve upon their debut.

However, if they don't turn things around quickly, it might lead to Sean Payton taking over play-calling duties sooner than expected.
