Constitution must remain supreme, every exercise of public authority must be in its limits: FCC CJ

Federal Constitutional Court (FCC) Chief Justice Aminuddin Khan emphasized the paramount importance of the Constitution and its role in governing the exercise of public authority. Speaking at an event in Islamabad, Khan stated that the Constitution must remain the supreme authority and that every public action must adhere to its boundaries. He noted that the Constitution represents the "collective will of the people" and that institutions formed under it derive their legitimacy from it, thus being bound by its limits.

Khan explained that the Federal Constitutional Court, which came into existence with the 27th Constitutional Amendment in November 2025, must operate under the principle that its fundamental philosophy is both simple and profound. He described the court's creation as a significant step in Pakistan's constitutional history.

Justice Aminuddin highlighted that the Constitutional Court occupies a unique position in the administration of justice. Its role goes beyond resolving disputes between individuals; it deals with matters that impact the constitutional structure, the allocation of power, the protection of fundamental rights, and the maintenance of the constitutional order.
