Celtic & Scotland legend McGrain diagnosed with Alzheimer's

Danny McGrain, hailed as Scotland's premier full-back, has received an Alzheimer's disease diagnosis, his family announced. Speaking to Celtic's website, his wife Laraine McGrain explained that they felt it was time to be transparent about his condition. Danny, 76, had always taken a keen interest in supporting supporters, whether through hospital visits, charity events, or heartfelt messages.

However, as time went on, his involvement with the team and fans has become challenging. McGrain, who had a 17-year stint with Celtic, was also a part of Scotland's national team for 62 times. He started his career at Celtic, moved briefly to Hamilton Academical, and later managed Arbroath. Despite the diagnosis, McGrain remains upbeat, cherishing time with his loved ones, following the sport, and staying connected to the club he adores.
