Car driver who hit woman biker in Gurgaon tried to escape after arrest: Police

Gym owner and former karate competitor Kalyan Bainsla, 33, faced an attempted murder charge following a hit-and-run incident involving a woman biker in Gurgaon, reported police. Accused of striking 27-year-old Shivani Chauhan with his car, Bainsla fled after his arrest, sustaining injuries during the escape attempt, officers added.

He was arrested along with his cousin, Lovenish Gurjar (34), who was also present during the incident. The police took action after viral videos of the Golf Course Road collision surfaced, showing Chauhan getting struck by a speeding vehicle. Bainsla, who operates a gym and possesses properties, allegedly borrowed a white Maruti Suzuki Ciaz two days before the incident, registered under an Army personnel based in Assam.

The police, after conducting a thorough investigation and analyzing CCTV footage, escalated charges to attempt murder, while also adding sections for stalking and insulting a woman's modesty. Bainsla, seeking to counter the narrative, provided interviews while on the run. Three special teams were deployed to locate him, and he was subsequently apprehended near Rajgarh in Rajasthan.
