Bleoo Legacy Fundraising Initiative targets GH¢1 million investment fund to support Accra Academy

The Bleoo Legacy Fundraising Initiative (BLFI) aims to raise GH¢1 million in investments to support Accra Academy. This was announced at the Initiative's second Annual General Meeting on 10 September 2026 at the University of Ghana Alumni Conference Hall. Members reviewed the year's activities and set priorities for the future.

BLFI has surpassed its initial GH¢100,000 fundraising target. The fund's strategy is to build long-term investment capital to generate income and provide reliable support to the school over time. The Board of Trustees Chairman, Mr Richard Okrah, explained that BLFI will invest in projects addressing real needs at the school, with measurable impact, and that do not deplete the capital base unnecessarily.

BLFI's 2025 financials showed a significant increase in revenue, donations and contributions, and investment income. Administrative expenses fell, and the excess of income over expenditure rose. The accumulated fund grew from GH¢78,185 to GH¢91,242.

Despite its investment focus, BLFI has directly supported Accra Academy, contributing GH¢5,000 for Ellen House and Claremont House refurbishments ahead of the school's 2026 Homecoming and 95th anniversary. The fund has also earmarked staff accommodation for future support. So far, BLFI has channeled GH¢17,000 in investment revenue to the school.

The AGM paid tribute to two Patrons who passed away and welcomed four new Patrons. Members adopted amendments to establish BLFI as a charitable, non-profit public organization. The fund obtained its Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) license and filed its returns with the Office of the Registrar of Companies. A new contribution-recognition system was unveiled, allowing members and donors to be honored anonymously.

BLFI plans to strengthen ties with alumni chapters in North America, the UK, and other diaspora regions, and work more closely with other fundraising initiatives to avoid duplication.
