Billy Horschel, the leading American supporter of the European tour's BMW PGA Championship, will skip this year's flagship event due to his poor performance on the PGA Tour. Horschel, who has played the tournament annually since 2019, suffered a five-month hiatus in 2025 following hip surgery and has not finished in the top 10 this year, placing him at No. 100 in the FedEx Cup standings.

If he fails to finish in the top 100, Horschel will lose his PGA Tour card for the first time in over a decade. Horschel expressed his disappointment on social media, stating that he is "devastated" and "upset." The tournament, which Horschel won twice, is the first in a series of eight FedEx Cup Fall events. Other players, such as Lucas Glover, Christiaan Bezuidenhout, and Jordan Spieth, also have significant stakes in the upcoming autumn tournaments.
