Apex Legends Art Director Says Street Fighter 6 Pushed Devs to Give Characters the 'Thickest Thighs' They've Ever Had

Apex Legends' art director Alisa Rastorgueva revealed that developers pushed the limits of the game's character models for their collaboration with Street Fighter 6, resulting in the Legends having the "thickest thighs" the game has ever had. Street Fighter 6 will be featured with special character skins, a decked-out POI, an ambitious Wildcard Takover, and weapon skins on September 22.

A selection of Legends, including Sparrow, Alter, Mirage, Caustic, Wattson, Gibraltar, Bangalore, and Pathfinder, will be transformed into characters from Capcom's fighting game franchise. The art team faced a challenge in making the Legends look like their Street Fighter counterparts, with Rastorgueva stating that the skins are so muscular that the Legends now have the thickest thighs they've ever made.

The selection process for the specific Street Fighter characters was a collaborative effort between Apex Legends and the IP holder, with the goal of representing the characters well and making them recognizable within the game. Senior technical game designer Chris Ruvolo explained that while they wanted to highlight characters from Street Fighter 6 specifically, they had to consider gameplay as well, and not all of the desired characters could be included due to the nature of Apex Legends being primarily a shooter.
