Another Interceptor Successfully Tested Against Russian Jet-Powered Drones — Zelenskyy

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the successful test of a new interceptor designed to counter Russian jet-powered drones, though some aspects of its control require further refinement, according to UATV English. At a briefing led by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Mykhailo Drapatyi, Zelenskyy reported that the Shahed drone was successfully hit, but acknowledged that additional work is needed to improve the interceptor's control system.

The Ukrainian leader also discussed future military operations and Ukraine's long-range strike capabilities with Defense Minister Yevhen Khmara. Together with Drapatyi, they identified key targets, the necessary resources for strikes, and the required preparations. Zelenskyy highlighted that Ukraine's long-range strikes against Russia's oil sector, which supports its war efforts, have already yielded significant results and are enhancing Ukraine's diplomatic leverage.

The president stressed Ukraine's willingness to pursue de-escalation, but emphasized that partners must ensure Russia adheres to its commitments to cease attacks on Ukraine's critical infrastructure in a lasting and reliable manner. As of now, Ukraine has 67 companies working on technologies capable of intercepting jet-powered drones, with three to five companies having already demonstrated successful outcomes.
