Agartala-Delhi IndiGo flight carrying 103 passengers diverted to Lucknow after smoke warning

An IndiGo flight from Agartala to Delhi was forced to make an emergency landing in Lucknow on Tuesday (September 15) following a smoke warning in the aircraft's cargo area, according to official reports. The flight, number 6E6504, safely touched down at Lucknow Airport at 6:29 pm with 103 passengers and six crew members on board. No untoward incidents were reported during the incident.

Earlier this month, an Air India Express flight (IX 1253) flying from Varanasi to Delhi was similarly diverted to Lucknow due to a smoke detection alarm in the cargo hold. The flight, which had 155 passengers on board, took off around 8 am on September 3 and the alarm was triggered shortly after. The aircraft made a safe landing at Lucknow Airport at 8:52 am, and emergency response teams, including airport personnel, fire brigade officials and technical experts, were on standby.

Passengers and crew members disembarked by 9:02 am, with no signs of smoke or fire detected during initial checks. The aircraft was subsequently taken to a hangar for a thorough technical examination and an investigation was launched to determine the cause of the alarm.

In another incident reported on Sunday, an Air India flight AI1886 from Bhopal to Delhi was diverted to Jaipur due to a technical issue, adhering to standard safety protocols. The aircraft landed safely at Jaipur Airport and was undergoing checks in line with Air India's safety standards. The airline apologized for the inconvenience caused to passengers and stated that efforts were being made to fly them to Delhi as soon as possible.
