Aga Khan V Meets Dawoodi Bohra Leader’s Son In Mumbai, Highlighting Shared Ismaili Heritage And Community Ties

Mumbai witnessed a meeting on Monday between Prince Rahim Aga Khan V, the 50th Imam of the Nizari Ismaili Muslims, and Shahzada Husain Burhanuddin, the son of Dawoodi Bohra spiritual leader Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin. The gathering highlighted the shared religious heritage of two branches of the Ismaili tradition, with the event carrying significance beyond its immediate proceedings.

A Dawoodi Bohra spokesperson noted that the meeting showcased a warm relationship between the two communities, emphasizing their mutual respect and shared focus on education, healthcare, and welfare. The Aga Khan tradition traces its roots to the succession disputes within Shia Islam, while the Dawoodi Bohra community follows the Tayyibi Musta li tradition, recognizing the Syedna’s authority.

This meeting served as a reminder of the enduring connections among different strands of the Ismaili community, as one follower aptly stated, "One’s identity need not be diluted in a pluralistic world, but rather fulfilled, as one bright thread in a cloth of many colours."
