2027: APC govs distance themselves from Wike-led rainbow coalition, deny alliance

All Progressives Congress (APC) governors have distanced themselves from any alliance with opposition leaders ahead of the 2027 general elections, according to the APC Governors Forum chairman, Hope Uzodimma. At the conclusion of a governors' meeting in Abuja, Uzodimma emphasized that they remained committed to the APC and its political structure, asserting that no formal agreements have existed with any individual or opposition party.

Nyesom Wike, a minister in the Federal Government and leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, has been promoting a Rainbow Coalition movement in Rivers State, which he claims will support President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming elections. Wike has accused APC governors, specifically Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and Uzodimma, of undermining his political career due to the growing influence of his coalition.

In response, the APC governors clarified that their focus is solely on official APC candidates at all levels, refraining from any arrangement that could create confusion or divided loyalty within the party.
